وَإِذْ أَخَذْنَا مِيثَٰقَ بَنِىٓ إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ لَا تَعْبُدُونَ إِلَّا ٱللَّهَ وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ إِحْسَانًۭا وَذِى ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ وَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰ وَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِ وَقُولُوا۟ لِلنَّاسِ حُسْنًۭا وَأَقِيمُوا۟ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ وَءَاتُوا۟ ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ ثُمَّ تَوَلَّيْتُمْ إِلَّا قَلِيلًۭا مِّنكُمْ وَأَنتُم مُّعْرِضُونَ
Translation
Sahih International
And [recall] when We took the covenant from the Children of Israel, [enjoining upon them], "Do not worship except Allah; and to parents do good and to relatives, orphans, and the needy. And speak to people good [words] and establish prayer and give zakah." Then you turned away, except a few of you, and you were refusing.

وَإِذْ
And when
أَخَذْنَا
We took
مِيثَـٰقَ
(the) covenant
بَنِىٓ
(from the) Children
إِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ
(of) Israel
لَا
Not
تَعْبُدُونَ
you will worship
إِلَّا
except
ٱللَّهَ
Allah
وَبِٱلْوَٰلِدَيْنِ
and with [the] parents
إِحْسَانًۭا
(be) good
وَذِى
and (with)
ٱلْقُرْبَىٰ
relatives
وَٱلْيَتَـٰمَىٰ
and [the] orphans
وَٱلْمَسَـٰكِينِ
and the needy
وَقُولُوا۟
and speak
لِلنَّاسِ
to [the] people
حُسْنًۭا
good
وَأَقِيمُوا۟
and establish
ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ
the prayer
وَءَاتُوا۟
and give
ٱلزَّكَوٰةَ
the zakah
ثُمَّ
Then
تَوَلَّيْتُمْ
you turned away
إِلَّا
except
قَلِيلًۭا
a few
مِّنكُمْ
of you
وَأَنتُم
and you (were)
مُّعْرِضُونَ
refusing
٨٣
(83)
