Al-Anbya 21:87 • Juz 17 • Page 329

وَذَا ٱلنُّونِ إِذ ذَّهَبَ مُغَٰضِبًۭا فَظَنَّ أَن لَّن نَّقْدِرَ عَلَيْهِ فَنَادَىٰ فِى ٱلظُّلُمَٰتِ أَن لَّآ إِلَٰهَ إِلَّآ أَنتَ سُبْحَٰنَكَ إِنِّى كُنتُ مِنَ ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ

Translation

Sahih International

And [mention] the man of the fish, when he went off in anger and thought that We would not decree [anything] upon him. And he called out within the darknesses, "There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers."

Word-by-Word Translation

وَذَا

And Dhun-Nun

ٱلنُّونِ

And Dhun-Nun

إِذ

when

ذَّهَبَ

he went

مُغَـٰضِبًۭا

(while) angry

فَظَنَّ

and thought

أَن

that

لَّن

never

نَّقْدِرَ

We would decree

عَلَيْهِ

upon him

فَنَادَىٰ

Then he called

فِى

in

ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتِ

the darkness(es)

أَن

that

لَّآ

(There is) no

إِلَـٰهَ

god

إِلَّآ

except

أَنتَ

You

سُبْحَـٰنَكَ

Glory be to You

إِنِّى

Indeed, [I]

كُنتُ

I am

مِنَ

of

ٱلظَّـٰلِمِينَ

the wrongdoers
